A longstanding nuisance has turned into an URGENT issue -the fragile and aging roof over the education wing of our church has sprung so m any leaks that it can no longer be patched.
The roof must be entirely replaced. Each time it rains, continuing dam age is done to the walls and ceilings of the rooms on the first and second floors. If left unchecked, this could lead to structural and mold damage.
Roof maintenance has been at the top of the list of projects to be undertaken in our church's forthcoming capital campaign. While we had not anticipated beginning this campaign tat this time, we must act immediateness to replace the roof. Thus, our efforts to raise money to replace the roof will help us explore the viability of a capital campaign.
The property committee is in the process of selecting a contractor from the estimates they have received and will seek to have the "greenest" roof possible. Further details about specific plans for the roof will be forthcoming. Session has established a benchmark off $40,000 as a goal for the money to be raised to replace the roof. Any money raised beyond the cost of the roof and interior repairs will be put toward the upcoming capital campaign.
